abdomin

[Latin abdomen, abdomin-, abdomen.]

The abdomen is the part of the body cavity below the diaphragm, containing the stomach, intestines, kidneys, and other organs. An abdominoplasty is an operation to tighten the abdominal muscles and remove excess fat, also called a tummy tuck. Several terms refer to the abdomen together with another organ or part of the body: abdominothoracic, abdomen and thorax; abdominoperineal, abdomen and perineum.
