Fairfield University was founded in 1928 by the Society of Jesus, a Catholic congregation more commonly known as Jesuits. “Care for the whole person” is the university’s philosophy. Students are supported to develop their faith, ethics and public service, as well as to educate themselves in their chosen field.

50 majors and minors are on offer at Fairfield, along with almost 40 master’s and a doctor of nursing course. The top-rated programmes at the university are biology, international studies, art history, religious studies, sociology, accounting and finance and mechanical engineering.

For example, one psychology professor recorded lectures to be watched outside of class so that the lecture timeslot could be used for students to discuss the content and work together on homework.
